Dinosaurs Not Allowed

Dinosaurs Not Allowed is a dance project inspired by the Olympic quest for more exercise and the need to offer a new introduction to traditional English dance to the youth of the South West.

Dinosaurs Not Allowed is working with The Great Caper and several independent Youth Sides to provide an annual showcase of Traditional English Folk Dance. The four year project culminates in a showcase performance on Saturday 8th September 2012 in Weymouth as part of the London 2012 Cultural Olympiad.

2011 Showcase

In 2011 our day of dance bought together 17 individual youth dance sides, involving over 270 youth members (aged 5-25) from throughout the South West for a fantastic day of Traditional English Folk Dance. In 2012 we hope for even more people to be joining us! Through the project this year about 800 children have experienced the Morris, with all the schools from this year’s workshops creating their own performing side. Plans are developing for the legacy of the 3 years of workshops to be respected and the teams to be sustained beyond 2012.

The project is very grateful for the support given to the young dancers by the Weymouth Folk Community,
the Pirates of MV Freedom and Poole acting as our stewards (Aargh!), Vale Sign and Print for the creation of the logo and many others.
